 America is ever changing. Over the centuries it has transformed in many ways. There has been an increase in immigrants, especially Hispanics, which has caused a transformation of both language and culture. Richard Rodriguez in his book Brown The Last Discovery of America, and in other essays has brought his views on these matters and presents  brownish as a  spic-and-span way of describing America. Brown as color as impurity as language as America. Richard Rodriguez is a writer who is artistic, and has an idealistic way of recounting things. In his essay Late Victorians he writes how a woman jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. He describes it as before she stepped onto the sky. Is Reading Fiction a Waste of Time
I love reading  assembly. When my mom told me that it did not teach me anything I was appalled. Fiction taught me many new  talking to and introduced me to new ideas. Even though non-fiction  evoke teach  deal so many things, it still  target be boring from time to time. Fiction is fun, intriguing, and can teach people many new things, even if the person who is reading the story doesnt know it. I have learned many things when I read all sorts of fiction stories.When I read a fantasy book such as fairy tales, I learned about the  floriculture of a certain region. When I read action and adventure stories, I can learn about the climate, weather, and characteristics of a certain type of climate region. When I read a story thats about crime or mystery, I can learn about different things that detectives do and different types of  jurisprudence enforcement. On the website Everyday Theology, the fact that fiction does not waste your time is emphasized a lot.It talks about how fiction strengt   hens our imagination, expands our horizons and makes us better writers. Having a great imagination is important because it helps let us create new things and make new ideas possible. Expanding our horizons can help us understand other people and ideas. Being a better writer could help us tell future generations about their past and help others understand what they dont understand.  coiffe Twain once said Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities.Truth isnt.  Ralph Waldo Emerson said Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures. Both of these quotes tell us about how fiction can teach you more than non-fiction. Fiction taught me many vocabulary words too. In the book Harry Potter, I learned the words indifferent, obscure, revere, and deride. If fiction can teach and audience so much, than why not waste your time reading it? It will teach the reader so many new things.

April Morning by Howard Fast Book Review Essay
The book April Morning by Howard  fast is a dramatic story of the  damn battle of Lexington set up with a one day structure from the view of a fifteen year old  boy turning into a  valet. In the book we see the life of  crack barrel maker changing from child to man in the matter of one day. Each chapter is a  antithetic time period of the day telling us what has happened and what the effects were on his life. Adam Cooper is a fifteen-year-old boy living in colonial Lexington,  mom with his family. He feels demoralized by his  experience, Moses Cooper, but finds consolation from  naan Cooper, his paternal grandmother. When a meeting of the township Committee is called on the evening of April 18th, Adam wishes to  expect but his father questions whether or not his son is a man and has earned the right to attend the meeting. Instead of attending the meeting, Adam visits his neighbor  condolence Simmons, a distant relative whom he loves whom he loves and sees himself marrying in the dist   ant future.When his father returns home from the meeting, Adam eavesdrop as Moses tells his wife Sarah and Granny Cooper what happened, as the colonial communities prepare for a possible confrontation with the British army. During the late night early morning, a rider arrives in Lexington, waking up the community with news that the British army is on the march to Concord to take out supplies and ammunition that is being stored by colonists for a possible rebellion.  erst the news of the night rider reaches the town the committeemen hold a muster for the militia, and Adam decides to sign the muster book and commit to fighting for the militia. His father is  gravel when he is signing the muster and allows for it to happen. Moses Cooper no longer sees his son as a boy but as a determined man willing to fight for his family and community.Both Adam and his father prepared themselves for the battle and a total of seventy militia men wait for the arrival of the British army. Moses Cooper a   rgues persuasively with the committeemen that the small number of men cant stand up to the thousands of Redcoat serviceman they will be greeting alone, and so its decided that they will state their case but do no more they decide to talk it out rather than to fight. However when the British finally reach Lexington, the  take outicers are sneeringly dismissive of the colonists and tell them to leave the common and a mysterious shot is fired causing the British troops to begin firing on the colonists. The British massacred the small militia that stood in front of them, and Adam watched as his father and other men he had  cognise his entire life be shot down.Adam hides in terror and cannot go home because of the British troops in town and it is unsafe. Adam is off to the woods to find the rest of the militia and he is almost discovered by British soldiers, but before they do so are called  outside(a) to march towards Concord. Adam runs from the British and is shot at by redcoats, only    to be caught in the grip of an older colonial man named Solomon Chandler, who helps Adam and provides him with  round consolation and food. Adam joins Chandler on his journey to meet up with more members of colonial militias. Along the way, other colonists join the two, also ready to fight the British.  erst at the pasture, Adam is greeted by Cousin Simmons and The Reverend, and is relieved that others from the Lexington militia had survived. Though the various town committees and militia have general instructions,  there isnt a single leader chosen to lead the battle.It was a confused time for the colonists fighting and finally Chandler guides them and instructs the men waiting at the pasture to split up into groups according to the firing range of their weapons. Adam and the other men in his group lay under the brush and fire at the redcoats, Adams gun does not reach a far distance so he does not shoot but watches instead he see the burning of Lexington and the bloodshed of the re   dcoats.  by the mist of all of the battle Adam seems to fall a quietness leaving everyone to believe that he is wounded and dead. When Adam wakes up he finds that the battle has  go to a distant location he hears Cousin Simmons and The Reverend talking, meets them, and they all agree to go home to Lexington, or what is left of it. Once home Adam is greeted with relief and happiness by the surviving members of his family and others from the town. Adam is now treated  comparable a fully-grown man when he was only recently  come acrossed a  unanalyzable child to everyone.Adam makes peace with his fathers corpse, and then helps to carry the casket to the church. At the church Adam lights some extra candles so his father wont have to rest in the dark of night. Cousin Simmons makes sure that Adam is aware this battle was only the start, and that he must consider his other responsibilities as the new head of household when deciding if hell continue to fight. When Adam returns home his moth   er is already asleep but Granny Cooper is awake and says she knows he will go back into battle eventually. He puts off the question for the time being, and is relieved to finally go to sleep and end this momentous day. The book is a great and quick read being that it is only 202 pages long. The text gets you involved and makes it feel as if you are there with Adam Cooper through the battles and his day.You feel as if you are standing next to Adam while on the field holding your riffle awaiting the battles. The  constricts and emotions that the boy is going through as he transitions into an adult are heartfelt and many people can  touch to Adam in some ways. The pressure of becoming a man over night and resuming all these responsibilities he never had to deal with before is a struggle that many can relate too. I personally would definitely recommend this book to my peers as well as to younger and older audiences. This book in my opinion was very  sincere in the fact that it drew me i   n and kept me wanting to read more as the story went on. I dont usually like reading and the fact that this book makes me want to keep reading and not stop till it was finished in my opinion makes this a good book. Fast is a great author and knows how to draw in an audience. Overall this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it to all.

Ow Does the Author Present Human Nature in Lord of the Flies? Essay
Lord of the Flies is a  reinvigorated written by William Golding, it was published in 1954. It is an  aloneegorical novel in which Golding uses many powerful symbols to  flummox his ideology about human nature. In this novel human nature is seen as a theme which runs through and through the entire novel. In this essay I will give examples of how Golding presents  tender-hearted Nature in Lord of the Flies. It was focused on how a geisha is trained, about the life of a geisha. I always  mat up myself controlling my emotions especially on trying sequences in the novel. I was controlling my emotions just how Sayuri did, the way a geisha should.The character of Hatsumomo, on the other hand, made me fe   el mixed emotions. I was angry because of her cruelty to a  baffled child but I  overly pity her because she knows that this very young helpless girl  skunk eat her alive if she will get proper training as a geisha. The first  corporeal kindness that she experienced from the Chairman touched her deeply and gave her hope, a sense of purpose which vanished totally  afterward she failed to meet her older sister when they planned to runaway and go back to their home.The book showed me that geishas are  non prostitutes. It did not show how meticulous it is to tie an obi. I did not feel overwhelmed by the dance scene as I felt reading how it was described in the book. They also changed how Hatsumomo left. In the book, she got so angry on a client that she bit him and after that, she was kicked out of the okiya but in the movie, she burned their okiya. I think it was a major turning point and should not be changed. It was also mentioned in the book how it felt strange when Hatsumomo was not living there in their okiya anymore. It was a good chance to play at the emotions of the viewers.But there were good things about the movie such as perfect soundtrack which carried on the  imagination and emphasized the emotions felt in different scenes, the casting was perfect although I would have chosen a prettier Ma   meha, and the colors were vivid, and some scenes made me go through the same emotions again as when I read it in the book such as the distant romance between the Chairman and Sayuri. I would also like it better if it was shown in the movie how the Chairman became Sayuris danna and that the two of them moved to NYC and Sayuri decided to  dress up her own teahouse there.III. ReactionThe movie is a great supplement for the book. It was good by itself but reading the book will make you understand more, not only about  be a Geisha but the culture in China, the complexity of the difference in economic status, the traditions that remained well-kept, and the  judiciousness of the kind of relationship that Sayuri and the Chairman had.The characters were well presented in the books as well as the settings and scenes. I love reading and I dont get easily bored with books but it is also rarefied that I feel heavy in the chest to just put a book down. Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my favorite no   vels and although the movie did not make it to my list, it is a must-see if you read the novel. It would be much better if you read the book first because the movie will just help you visualize although that would not be needed because everything was vividly described by Arthur Golden in the novel the same way Rob Marshall precisely recreated the scenes that preserved the novels beautiful tragedy.

My School Memories Essay
The  runner memory that I  fork out of  discipline is the sound of my small feet on the wet ground as I stepped out of my  mum? fs green Volvo. The splashing and splashing of the water as I walked down the rainy walkway toward what would be my new school. But not only was it a walkway to school, but the walkway to the rest of my life.  lower-ranking did I know at the  fourth dimension, but this path would bring me to where I am now, an unsure college student.  uncertain and uncertain of what my future holds and what is awaiting me on this path.The only  issues I know are the lessons that I  prolong  intimate along the way which have molded and shaped me into the person that I am today. As a kid going  by grade school my family moved around a  kettle of fish. When I first started going to school I was living in  compass north Seattle, and I lived  there up through the first grade. After I had completed first grade, my family and I packed up and moved north to Mountlake Terrace. At tha   t age it  actually wasn? t very hard for me to relocate because I hadn? t  legitimately had much time to develop any lasting relationships or even fully understand what was happening.The  sideline six years were spent moving between Edmonds and Seattle and going through different elementary schools. The  fourth-year that I got the harder it became whenever I would have to change to a different school because I felt  handle I had to explain myself to the other kids. When I was younger I was really embarrassed about the  detail that I had moved around so much. Even to this day, I  stimulate a bit  uneasy discussing this topic. After I had finished sixth grade my family decided to move back to Edmonds once  once again and I? fve been here ever since.I started middle school here in Edmonds at College  cast Middle School. That summer before school started I decided that I would join a football team so I could make  some fri send aways that went to the same school as me. For the first tim   e I had real friends. The only problem was that some of those friends weren? t the greatest of influences on me. They liked to get into trouble by smoking and just not making smart decisions in their lives. I experimented with the  solely ? gtroublemaker? h scenario, but luckily for me I realized it was not for me and it really was not the smart thing for a seventh grade kid to be doing.That following year I had changed a  pot and I had gotten really into music. I just fell in love with it. That year is when I met who would end up being  peerless of my closest friends to this day, Joe. His love of music was as great as mine was and we decided we wanted to start a band. I believe that music really helped me find a sense of self and it really gave me a positive way to express emotions and thoughts that I was feeling, and teenagers need some sort of way to express them otherwise it  tin can create trouble.High school was the  lineage of the end. It was the beginning of the end of child   hood?. It was a time when I had to  generate my first baby steps into the real world. The first year of high school was by far the worst. The step up from middle school to high school is a hard one. For me it was strange to see guys with more hair on their faces than I had on my whole body. The whole situation is quite intimidating for a young kid in a strange, new place. As the years went on, I began to feel more comfortable being there.The one thing that kept me sane through my high school years was my band. By the time wed reached our junior year we had become pretty good so that made it even more fun. I eventually even began to like school a little bit. But overall I had a lot of fun in high school. I think I learned a lot about how to treat people and just to respect people for who they are. That was probably one of the most  measurable lessons that I learned the whole time I was there. Looking back on it now, I can appreciate the time that I spent there.The events and circumst   ances of someone? fs life really do  act upon how that person thinks and acts. There is no doubt that the experiences I? ve had in my life through school have helped to shape the person I am today. Not that I am perfect or  full perfect now, but I am happy with who I am and I think that that there is something positive to be taken away from everything in life. The only problem is that sometimes you have to take a closer look to be able to find it.
